She is by Group 1 Emirates Winner All American, winner of the 2yo Skyline Stakes who also ran 2nd in the Blue Diamond and 5th in the Golden Slipper out of Talented Flying Spur mare La Fleur. Flying Spur also ran 2nd in the Blue Diamond after winning the Prelude and then won the Golden Slipper.

The combination of All American and Flying Spur would suggest Straying should be an early type although her dam raced best as an 3-4yo winning her third start by 4.8 Lengths at Hawkesbury over 1200m as an early 4yo. La Fleur had 4 starts for a win and a 2nd at the Sydney Provincials and two 4ths at Metro level and showed she could tough it up front yet also possessed an explosive turn of foot.
