The 3yo Fandango had 2 easy Randwick Metro trials in December before heading to the paddock. His next prep should be exciting and based on his pedigree he will do his best work over 1600m and beyond. Below is a link to his ready to run video which shows his great TURN OF FOOT suggesting he will be a sit sprint type like his sire PENDRAGON. Note that this run was on a soft 6 and he was cruising for the first 100. When the jockey asked him to go with just over 50m to go he really accelerated hard.

Fandango is by Multiple Group Winner PENDRAGON who as a 3yo won both the Norman Robinson over 2000m and the Gloaming Stakes over 1800m. He was 2nd in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes over 2000 and came a close 4th in the Victoria Derby over 2500m.

His dam Margobelle is a Black Type producer with Wells Street winning the Port Adelaide Cup over 2400m. Margobelle is by Multiple Group One Winner and son of SADLERS WELLS, BARATHEA,who has produced 81 SW’s many of which get over ground. Fandango’s 2nd dam is by the great ZABEEL.

The mating of Pendragon and Margobelle matches extremely well with a desired 4th gen duplication of NORTHERN DANCER in both sire lines accompanied by the double of SIR TRISTRAM to enhance the quality. The Stallion Producing mare ZANZARA appears in the 2nd and 4th quarters of the 5th gen which again strengthens the affinity of this pedigree.
