He is by Group One Galaxy winner SHELLSCRAPE from DAN BARONESS who won impressively at Group 3 level when defeating the Mighty Mare ORTENSIA, a Group One winner on three separate continents.

TORCHBEARER has 21 starts for 2 wins over 1000m and 1100m in the Sydney Provincials and 4 placings including two at Metro Grade for earnings of $56,170

He defeated Metro Winners Machinegun Jubs, Viaductress, Soundworks and the French Group 2 performing sprinter Vaniloquio placing 2nd to Restiadargent who’s claim to fame was running 3rd to BLACK CAVIAR in the G1 Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot only beaten half a length.

In both his Metro placings over 1100m he was beaten less than a length.

This is a horse with plenty of ability who is definitely at his best over the shorter sprints when allowed to push forward. His win at Kembla over 1000m is a great example sitting 3 wide on the speed on a soft5, running 57.58 (600m 33.97).
